Avocado Banana Smoothie

Ashley Horst

This nutritious beverage could also be referred to as “The Anti-Stress Elixir.” That is because most of the ingredients have been attributed to relieving stress.

This delicious recipe includes avocados, bananas, yogurt, and milk. Optionally, you can blend in cinnamon and/or a sweetener of your choosing. If you want a real treat, top off this concoction with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Now here’s where it gets really good… Two essential components in reducing anxiety and stress include: B vitamins and potassium. Bananas and avocados are packed with potassium. Potassium actually helps regulate blood pressure. It can even assist in reducing muscle spasms, which can be brought on by feeling tense. The ingredients rich in B vitamins include: milk and almonds (so you could substitute almond milk). These vitamins help your body manage stress.

There are also other components to relieving anxiety. Dark chocolate may actually reduce your stress hormones. It also contains sugar, which can release serotonin (a natural mood enhancer). Yogurt with healthy probiotics can reduce stress on your digestive system, creating a calm environment.

These powerful ingredients blend together to create an ultimate nutritious beverage. Not only is it rich in potassium and B Vitamins. It also packs a healthy calcium and protein punch.

In busy or trying times, stress can show its ugly face. Next time you’re feeling a bit anxious, you may want to try this rich and creamy smoothie. It’s refreshing and mentally rewarding.
