Bread Pudding

Bread pudding is a dish of the ages. It’s been around for decades and even centuries. Its beginnings were of a frugal nature. The dish was created as a way to use up old bread. However, the tastiness and popularity of this dish has kept it running strong.

One of the great things about bread pudding is that you can use various kinds of breads to create new tastes. Plus, it presents a tasty way to use up old bread and save a little money in the process.

This recipe is very easy. The ingredients include: six slices of bread, eggs, milk sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. The author of the recipe also recommends raisins, as an optional ingredient.

To make this dish you just preheat to 350 degrees. Take a little time to break up your bread and put it in the dish. Then drizzle a bit of butter over it. After which, you can add some raisins, if you wish. Once this is done, mix the other ingredients (eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract). Add this combination to the top of the bread. You will want to pour it all over. The author also recommends using a fork to push it down a little. When you’re done, the bread should be covered with the mixture.

The prep time only takes about five minutes and the cooking time is 45 minutes. Once your dish is done, it will serve about six people.

  2. Break bread into small pieces into an 8 inch square baking pan. Drizzle melted butter or margarine over bread. If desired, sprinkle with raisins.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Beat until well mixed. Pour over bread, and lightly push down with a fork until bread is covered and soaking up the egg mixture.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top springs back when lightly tapped.
