Want to start off your day right? This might be the solution. Oatmeal has a lot of beneficial properties to it. It’s not only a great part of a low-cholesterol diet; it’s also full of antioxidants and soluble fiber. Oatmeal makes a great addition to a low cholesterol or low sugar diet. It’s a complex carbohydrate so it digests slowly. It’s also low in fat! However, not all oats are the same. Some oatmeal comes packed with other ingredients; especially the store bought/pre-flavored packs. But fear not, this recipe offers a tasty homemade solution!
This recipe is easy and makes enough for two. There’s just a short list of ingredients: a large apple, steel cut oats, sliced almonds, Mott’s apple juice, cinnamon, and water. Keep in mind: cinnamon can be another beneficial ingredient for diabetics. Cinnamon has been said to help regulate and/or lower blood sugar.
To start out, you’ll want to get a big microwave-safe bowl. There will most likely be some splash up, so it’s best to go with a bigger sized bowl. Put your ingredients in and stir them up. Microwave this for about 20 minutes. After this time, stir the ingredients once again. You probably need to microwave for another 10-15 minutes to reach the right consistency.
Start the day with a healthy and tasteful breakfast. Enjoy these steel cut oats in good conscience.
